The Galley Team works closely with the Social Committee and Club Manager, Mark. We co-ordinate the production of food for various events throughout the year, and we are very fortunate to be supported by many kind and generous members of the club who contribute cakes, pastries, soups, salads and other yummy things, as well as their valuable time – thank you everyone– quite simply we couldn’t do it without you.
All team members have current Food Hygiene Certificates, and 3 of us will attend a Food Allergen Awareness Seminar in October organised by Cornwall CC. We will also be checked for Health & Hygiene regulations by an officer from CCC very shortly.
Lunches and Suppers
Our hugely popular Sunday Lunches are manned by volunteer Club Members each weekend during the winter months. Usually two couples sign up to make and serve either soup or a savoury dish -ploughman’s, bacon butties, quiches, toasties and salads etc, and one of these options will always be suitable for vegetarians. An absolute bargain at £3.50 for either choice – and extremely reasonable if you are very hungry and decide to have both!
Wednesday Suppers– Our very own guest chef, Annie Morrison, is a superb cook and has produced delicious and exciting suppers for us this past summer. There is always a vegetarian option, and more often than not the “non-pud” eaters are tempted by her scrumptious desserts! At the moment the suppers are priced at £12.00 for a main course and £3 for a pud. The suppers have proved extremely popular with members and the evenings are a great way of getting to meet old friends and meet new ones. Annie will be cooking occasional “Special” suppers during the winter months, and we sincerely hope she will be returning to us on Wednesday evenings from May next year.
The start of the sailing season is celebrated with the Fitting Out Evening, and the Laying-up Supper(obviously) marks the end! Both of these fun evenings are “bring a sharing plate or dish”, with extra goodies provided by the Galley Team.
Falmouth Regatta Week Teas are hosted by most of the yacht clubs in the area in August. We host one such afternoon each year with delectable food provided by many of our lovely Club members (I’m not going to say ladies here, because one or two of the chaps can cook too!!). Overheard in the Club this year “the best Regatta Tea in Falmouth”- well-earned praise indeed.
